About David

David Connolly has been painting for almost a decade as part of Glasheen Artist Studio Programme.  His approach to painting transforms as the years go by, yet the work still possesses his distinctive style.

This is a consistency to his paintings. The devotion he has to each piece and the unique and controlled movement of the brush he uses. Blocks of colour merge on the canvas, but are also layered upon each other, balancing, to create a structural quality. The ridged texture of the paint on the canvas is so prominent that his paintings could be considered sculptural. Taking a look at the palette David uses, one can see these sculptural qualities reflected again. The palette is a build up of layers of acrylic paint and has taken its own form. It holds the history of the careful colour mixing process.

David exhibits his work regularly with Gasp Artist Studio Programme in Cork City and County.
